What's the price difference between dual sided and single sided id card printers?

A dual-sided ID printer typically costs $400 to $600 more than a single-sided printer.
When should I buy a dual sided ID printer vs going with the single sided model?

Printing on the back side of the card is best if you have a large amount of data to print. This is especially true if the back of the card contains variable data.
I need to print barcodes, should I buy a single sided printer?

A barcode is large enough that it can be read by a barcode scanner quickly and easily. This is very difficult if only printing on one side if other information is also included. Printing the barcode on the back of the card also helps print in true black using the (k) panel.

Can I upgrade later from a single sided printer to a dual sided one?

Many printers, like the Magicard 300, Magicard 600, and Primacy 2, have the capability to receive automatic updates in the future to enable dual-sided printing functionality.
If I have a single sided printer, can I just manually flip the cards over to print the backside?

It is indeed achievable. While you may cut costs initially, you will also invest additional time and manpower.
What ribbon do I use for a single sided ID card printer?

ID card printers utilize color ribbons to print the image. The acronym YMCKO represents Yellow, Magenta, Cyan, Black (K), and an Overlay Panel. If you intend to print a full-color image on just one side of the card, you should purchase the YMCKO ribbon.
